DIY: Microphone Built from an Old Telephone
by Roger on July 27th, 2007
Here’s schematic to create your own carbon microphone. I don’t really think this needs a step by step process, since it’s pretty simple. All you really need to have a functioning mike is (1) toggle switch, (1) 9 volt battery, (1) Mono Audio Jack, (1) Carbon Mic Element from an old telephone.
I built mine based on this “instructible”. I have mine in it’s own housing vs. still in the telephone. Either way will work the same. My only modification is to use a 9volt battery vs. 1AA. I tried it w/ the AA but the output was way too low.

Recent Contract Completion: Kerstin’s Tea Logo
by Roger on July 26th, 2007
Kerstin’s Tea is an importer of exotic teas. I was asked to develop a logo to represent their company’s online business. I chose the camilla tea plant as the main element because of the aesthetic beauty of the flower. The stamp element references to the importation element of their business. Their logo will be used for alls aspects of the company’s visual image.

Circuit Bent Speak & Math
by Roger on July 24th, 2007
Here’s a latest creation of mine. It’s pretty much all that is left from my childhood Speak and Math. All the switches I have were too large to mount on an actual Speak and Math case so I picked up this small letter box at the local art store. In the box is 4C batteries, a hair ball of wires and the circuit board from the Speak. I’m working on a board schematic to show where all the bends I used are. Below the video are a couple decent starting points for you if you are interested in giving it a shot.
Old School Halftone Screen Pattern

Here’s a quick pattern I created from an old paper. I think the imperfections in the dot’s add some realism to the pattern. Have fun!
